The Solutions Engineer is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on airport ground support equipment (GSE) and vehicles across various airport locations. This role involves diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in GSE, including baggage loaders, tugs, and ground power units. You will travel to different airport sites to address maintenance requests, conduct preventive maintenance tasks, and ensure the safe and efficient operation of GSE. Additionally, this position requires maintaining accurate maintenance records, ordering replacement parts, and adhering to safety and regulatory standards. The Solutions Engineer plays a vital role in minimizing downtime, optimizing GSE performance, and contributing to the overall functionality of airport operations. RESPONSIBILITIES Perform routine and emergency maintenance on airport ground support equipment: Ensure all machinery is in optimal working condition
Travel to various airport locations as needed: Be prepared to work at different sites, adapting to diverse work environments
Diagnose and repair mechanical issues: Identify problems with equipment and execute effective repairs
Maintain a wide range of airport vehicles: Service vehicles including tugs, belt loaders, and fuel trucks
Conduct safety inspections and compliance checks: Ensure all equipment meets regulatory safety standards
Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting: Offer immediate mechanical expertise during operational hours
Keep detailed records of maintenance and repairs: Document all servicing activities, parts used, and maintenance schedules
Collaborate with airport staff to ensure equipment reliability: Work alongside ground personnel to minimize equipment downtime
Manage a toolbox and parts inventory: Keep a well-organized supply of tools and spare parts for on-the-go repairs
Stay updated with the latest mechanical technologies: Continuously learn about advancements in mechanical engineering and airport equipment
Train airport staff on basic equipment maintenance: Share knowledge to enhance the overall maintenance capability of ground teams
Operate under various environmental conditions: Be adaptable to work in different weather and operational circumstances
Respond to emergency calls outside of standard hours: Be available for urgent repair needs, including nights and weekends
Participate in safety and skills training programs: Engage in ongoing professional development and safety education
Uphold high standards of workmanship and professionalism: Maintain a commitment to quality service and safety in all maintenance activities
Perform any additional duties as assigned by management QUALIFICATIONS 18 years of age or older
Eligible to work in the United States
Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
Completion of a recognized automotive or heavy equipment mechanic training program
Minimum of 3 years of experience in vehicle or heavy equipment maintenance
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in equipment maintenance
Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use of electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices
Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means
Pass a background check and drug screen
Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
