Position Summary:  MedStar Health is seeking a Sr. Analytics Engineer to join the Quality & Safety department. Works with MedStar Health's technical leaders and clinical experts to lead the development of data pipelines and products that are oriented towards improving MSH's workforces' ability to make data driven decisions. Leads projects and tasks throughout the development lifecycle within the Quality & Safety portfolio. This role is essential for MSH's ability to empower its workforce and strategic objectives through the utilization of healthcare analytics. Collaborates with program managers and team members to understand business needs and requirements, overseeing technical aspects of the agile analytics development life cycle, including development, testing, and deployment. Leveraging their expertise, leads technical development across multiple projects, including stakeholder engagement, data ingestion and modeling, pipeline automation, and data validation and quality assurance while mentoring junior staff and supporting non-technical stakeholders. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads end-to-end data engineering projects, including analytics consultations, data modeling and wrangling, and other analytics services.
  • Creates data extracts using SQL/Python or other technologies to improve existing data workflows and enable reuse in other data engineering solutions.
  • Collaborates with technical and clinical team members and stakeholders to ensure data products accurately reflect KPIs and metrics and adhere to documented standards and best practices.
  • Conducts working sessions with internal program and technical analytics staff on technical and analytical projects.
  • Networks with MSH leaders in supporting domains to identify high-impact opportunities to enhance MedStar performance on quality & safety metrics.
  • Communicates project progress effectively to internal and external stakeholders and provides feedback to help advance projects.
  • Utilizes best practices in data engineering and validation to develop comprehensive data products, improving end-user experience and reducing time to insight and value.
  • Represents Quality & Safety on MAP Community of Practice, Governance, or other committees, fostering a culture of partnership, collaboration, and innovation and serving as a positive thought leader.
  • Works with Quality & Safety teams to identify gaps, enhancing the effectiveness of the department's Data & Analytics journey.
  • Actively networks with MSH MAP Community of Practice team members to support a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation, consistently providing a positive customer and stakeholder experience.
  • Acts as a thought leader with teams to identify improvement opportunities, justify value, and enhance data product utility in supporting MSH's decision-making capabilities.
  • Pursues continuous learning to advance analytics and data engineering expertise in a chosen field.
