Our Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Senior Managing Engineer with expertise in ADAS and/or AVs for our Practice in Phoenix, AZ; Natick, MA; Atlanta, GA; Farmington Hills, MI; Menlo Park, CA; Irvine, CA; or Los Angeles, CA . In this role, you will work as part of a team executing consulting projects that involve the analysis and testing of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS); automated vehicles; vehicle, engine, and component performance (., emissions; fuel economy; noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH); drivability; acceleration; ; federal emissions and fuel economy testing; mechanical failures; safety assessments; federal and state regulations; and the design of consumer and industrial products. You will ultimately have the opportunity to develop your own consulting practice and grow professionally within Exponent.
You will be responsible for
Managing projects from initiation to completion; communicating project updates to other team members, clients, and administrative staff; ensuring that Exponent meets its deadlines and produces exceptional work product; and identifying business development opportunities
Developing and managing client relationships
Project and cost management on casework
Setting up and executing various test programs including full-scale vehicle tests and component or control systems evaluations
Continuing to develop specialized expertise in the automotive field such as the design, performance, and testing of existing or emerging automotive technology
Managing, mentoring, and providing consulting work for junior consulting staff
Developing and growing the Vehicle Engineering Practice
You will have the following skills and qualifications
Master's Degree or . in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
8+ years of work experience in ADAS, autonomous vehicles (AVs), and/or vehicle safety, vehicle and automotive system design, development, testing, and deployment
Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required
Ability to generate business and manage client relationships
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to interact with managers, engineers, non-technical personnel, and clients and present technical topics in a cogent and comprehensible manner
Strong leadership and communication skills and experience mentoring junior staff
Field and/or lab measurement experience with good hands-on skills
Versatile, team-oriented, willing to work overtime and travel when required
