Sr. Network Engineer

Education: A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as computer science, information technology, or network engineering is preferred. Experience: At least 8 years’ experience in Network Engineering or related field required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Proficiency in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Cisco and Meraki network equipment. A foundational understanding of and firsthand experience with network technologies including firewalls, content filters, routing/switching, VLANs, VPNs, and 802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless. Detailed and thorough comprehension of networking protocols including TCP, STP, ARP, Ethernet, OSPF, etc. Proficiency in configuring and managing security solutions such as Cisco Umbrella and DUO for advanced threat protection, secure access, and multi-factor authentication. Extensive experience in deploying and fine-tuning Cisco Umbrella to provide DNS-layer security, threat intelligence, and web filtering for a secure network environment. Demonstrated expertise in implementing Cisco DUO for multi-factor authentication (MFA) and access control, including the integration with various applications and services. Experience supporting or testing LANs, VLANs, 802.11 wireless networks, VPNs, NAT devices, & DHCP servers. Experience in conducting site surveys, assessing RF interference, and optimizing Wi-Fi coverage and performance using Ekahau or similar software. Ability to analyze and interpret Wi-Fi survey data, signal strength, channel utilization, and other RF characteristics to make informed network adjustments. Knowledge of best practices in Wi-Fi design, including channel planning, access point placement, and antenna selection. Networking certifications a plus: CCIE, CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, etc. Managed Service Provider (MSP) Experience: Prior experience working in or with MSPs, understanding the unique challenges and requirements of providing network services to external clients. Strong customer service skills and the ability to manage client relationships effectively. Communication and Teamwork: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with clients, team members, and management. Ability to clearly and concisely articulate both technical and non-technical concepts to third parties. Ability to work collaboratively in a team and to lead projects when required. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex network issues. Capacity to proactively identify potential network problems and propose solutions. Adaptability: Willingness to adapt and apply evolving technologies and industry best practices. Ability to multitask and work under stress. Certifications and Training: A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to obtain additional certifications and training as needed. Documentation: Effective documentation skills for network configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and client communication. Project Management: Experience with project management methodologies and the ability to manage multiple network-related projects effectively. Availability and On-Call Responsibilities: Be prepared for on-call duties and flexible work hours to address network issues and emergencies while minimizing business impact. Business and Client Focus: Understand the business objectives of the MSP and the importance of providing high-quality service to clients.
