We're seeking a seasoned Sr. Security Engineer who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and is passionate about building and maintaining secure, scalable solutions that support digital transformation. What We Offer: Salary: Competitive range of $125,000 - $135,000 per year. This range reflects the budgeted compensation for this role. The final offer will depend on experience, skills, and location. Responsibilities
Risk Identification & Mitigation Identifies and investigates risks to the organization using various processes and technologies Coordinates risk and vulnerability analysis of new and existing systems using industry-standard tools Leads and tracks remediation of findings from security tests and assessments Aids or performs incident response and forensic investigations Manages third-party security engagements, such as penetration tests and risk assessments Interfaces with internal and external auditors to ensure regulatory compliance, including IT Sarbanes-Oxley engagements
Security Architecture & Integration Partners with various product development groups to ensure "Shift-left" security approach to new and existing software development lifecycles Audits existing systems, applications, and platforms to ensure alignment with security best practices Evaluates new projects and applications for security requirements, architecture, and design Recommends and implements security policies, standards, and technologies for both current and future systems Works closely with Engineering, Operations, and Software Development teams to integrate best-practice security controls into infrastructure, custom software, and databases Works with development and product teams to implement and secure CI/CD pipelines and deployment of other resources both cloud and on-prem
Collaboration, Awareness & Governance Collaborates with system and application owners to enforce security standards and mitigate risks Interfaces with the user community to assess needs and implement user-focused security solutions Improves organizational awareness of security practices through education and proactive communication Supports the governance of security processes across departments to ensure consistent, enterprise-wide security compliance
Qualifications
Experience 6+ years in Information Security, with 4+ years in security engineering. 2-4 years supporting DevOps or cloud-native environments with a security-first mindset. Strong understanding of compliance frameworks (FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA, SOX, PCI). Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to identify areas for improvement and lead continuous security enhancements At least one security certification (CISSP preferred). Hands-on experience with: Shift-left Security approach, developing and implementing DevSecOps principles and secure SDLC practices Integrating security into CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, SonarCube, Snyk, Trivy, etc... Implementing SAST/DAST scanning and ensuring proper code coverage Building, securing and deploying containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, BICEP, or ARM templates Microsoft 365 & Azure security features (Defender, PIM, Conditional Access, etc.) Development and scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash Securing cloud native applications and API's Skills Strategic Risk & Security Judgment Weighs business needs against security risks and articulates trade-offs to leadership Skilled in vulnerability analysis, remediation, and third-party risk assessments Demonstrates sound judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving in complex scenarios Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion Communication & Relationship Building Builds strong, trust-based relationships across business units and IT teams Leads and participates in technical discussions across multidisciplinary teams Communicates clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences Practices active listening and engages in reasoned, collaborative dialogue Execution & Adaptability Prioritizes and manages a high volume of tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Quickly learns and applies new information, tools, and systems Adapts to changing needs while maintaining accuracy and efficiency Comfortable working on-site and performing tasks that may require physical mobility
