Rapiscan Systems, designs, manufactures and markets security and inspection systems worldwide. Our products are used to inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles and other objects for weapons, explosives, drugs and other contraband. Rapiscan Systems security and inspection devices can be found in a wide range of locations such as airports, border crossings, railway stations, sea ports and terminals, government and military installations, and nuclear facilities. In this position the qualified applicant will work closely with supply chain management, manufacturing, and engineering to facilitate and manage successful supplier partnerships. You will support supply chain in the selection and qualification of suppliers and own the process of qualifying the parts, product or service being procured. You will also own all supplier nonconformances identified and manage resulting corrective action activities to ensure successful resolution of problems. You will also maintain supplier performance metrics and measurements, facilitate product and process improvements, cycle time and cost reductions, and manage compliance to quality requirements. You will also provide engineering and technical assistance to suppliers as required.
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES and GOALS: Must be passionate about quality and work affectively with suppliers to ensure that purchased parts are supplied right first time, repeatedly to the product specifications supplied. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills required and able to work across organisational functions in supporting the activities in solving minor as well as complex supplier associated problems. 10 years’ experience in a Procurement Engineering role within a manufacturing organization that produced large scale engineering products as well as highly engineered products within the Mechanical and Electro/Mechanical commodities. Knowledge of and able to implement quality system improvement and corrective action methodologies in problem solving. Such as but not limited to: CAPA, 8D, 5 Why’s, Pareto Analysis etc.. Experience in Electronic Mechanical Manufacturing with an understanding of PCBA manufacturing preferable. Experience in Heavy Fabrication Metalwork Manufacturing processes as well as High Precision machining. Experienced in Methods and principles of manufacturing measurement of welding, plastics, sheet metal, machined metal and a knowledge of assembled geometric tolerance stack up. Proficient at interpreting Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Drawings. Including capability to use Solidworks preferred. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other similar based software applications. A knowledge of the MRP Microsoft D application and configuration management Agile application is preferable. Must have a positive proactive attitude to work, Be a self-starter, Lead and able to function independently of direct supervision, be self-motivated, and have good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills. Must be comfortable presenting to and communicating with Sr Leadership both internally and externally. Experienced with the relevant Quality Management System ISO-, ISO- preferred. Being qualified as an Internal and External to these standards is also desirable. An understanding of TS , or AS is also advantageous. Must have a valid Passport and Driving License and be able to travel up to 25% within this supplier centric position. Mostly domestic but international travel is possible, sometimes at short notice. Below lists, but not limited to, the key responsibilities expected of the Supplier Quality Engineer. SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT: Strategically lead supplier development to improve supplier process capabilities to deliver quality, on time parts/products right first time every time. Build long‐term supplier relationships. SUPPLIER QUALIFICATION AND REVIEW: Own and maintain supplier audit system for the critical and key suppliers. Conduct supplier audits to this schedule and own closure of resulting findings. SUPPLIER PART/PRODUCT QUALIFICATION: Carry out approval of suppliers part and product manufacturing processes as well as validate any secondary qualification of outsourced processes. MANUFACTURING PRODUCTION PART APPROVAL (SPC): Qualify new suppliers and approve their processes and procedures in line with the specific product part or service being procured. Carry out qualification at the supplier of tooling and production parts using qualification principles such as the FAIR process. PROBLEM SOLVING AND CORRECTIVE ACTION: Own the initial investigation and FA process in evaluating and documenting observed quality issues as well as identifying possible solutions that can then be reviewed with the relevant design authority. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills are needed to be able to work across organisational functions in supporting this activity. MONITOR AND MEASURE, REPORTING CAPA MANAGEMENT: Own the supplier quality goals and metrics as well as any associated corrective action activities. NPI/DESIGN REVIEW AND CHANGE: Participation in the NPI process to ensure all Supplier requirements are understood and included in any R&D, concept approval. Work in conjunction with engineering to resolve any reported supplier configuration management, change and technical support requests. Use ECR and TDA processes to track all actions requested in a consistent and controlled approach. Uphold the company’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork. Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS: BS Degree or equivalent experience; Engineering or Technical Degree a plus 10 years minimum work experience in quality and/or a quality manufacturing role with complex capital equipment Strong analytical and technical skills are necessary to interpret specifications and drawings and perform problem solving and data analysis leading to improvement initiatives Working knowledge of ISO: and ISO : Very strong quality improvement background, applying statistical tools, process FMEAs and root cause problem solving Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications and general database Experience leading Process Improvement Teams and managing major projects ASQ certifications of CQE and CQA are a plus OTHER WORK REQUIREMENTS: Must be passionate about quality and work affectively with suppliers to ensure that purchased parts are supplied right first time, repeatedly to the product specifications supplied. Must be able to work across functions and even across organizations in supporting the solving of problems that may or may not need supplier support. Experience with relevant Quality Management Systems (ISO , TS , or AS and ISO standards). Qualified Internal and External, Auditor to ISO (Lead Auditor is desirable) Qualified Internal and External, Auditor to ISO is desirable. Must have a positive proactive attitude to work, be self-motivated, and have good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills. Must be able to travel to supplier locations to resolve quality problems. Travel is both local and Worldwide (a minimum of 20-25%).
