Project Overview

iParametrics is seeking a Structural Design Engineer to support a major nuclear power program. This role provides technical expertise for engineering assignments of intermediate complexity, contributing to the design and analysis of civil and structural systems on large-scale projects. The engineer will perform calculations, develop specifications, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and support procurement and construction activities to ensure project success.


Role’s Responsibilities
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations for technical solutions to problems of intermediate complexity

  • Develop and review specifications and design criteria

  • Perform and verify engineering analyses and calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures

  • Specify materials, equipment, and systems while solving structural engineering problems

  • Coordinate technical issues across disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients

  • Ensure compliance with the Project Quality Plan, approved scope, cost, and schedule

  • Establish, control, and report on material quantities, providing analysis and forecasts

  • Provide technical support for equipment/material procurement, including bid evaluations and vendor submittals

  • Support construction administration, including responses to RFIs and field changes

  • Utilize 3D modeling and 2D CADD tools in a multi-discipline EPC environment

  • Other duties as assigned


Must Have Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required)

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience (experience)

  • Eligibility: U.S. Citizenship (requirement)

  • Knowledge: Working knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and standards (knowledge)

  • Technical Skills: Ability to perform hand and computer calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel (skill)

  • Software: Intermediate knowledge of structural design software (STAAD, STAADPro, RISA3D) and Mathcad (software knowledge)

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills (skill)

  • EPC Projects: Experience providing engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services on commercial or industrial projects (experience)

  • Software Proficiency: Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, presentation tools) (software knowledge)


Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification: Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • Experience: Design of systems, structures, and components for nuclear facilities under ASME NQA-1

  • Field Work: Practical field experience in EPC projects

  • Industry Experience: EPC project background in U.S. DOE, federal agencies, nuclear facilities, or regulated industries (pharmaceutical, biotech, manufacturing)

  • Software: Proficiency in STAADPro and Mathcad
