Our client, a small but well-established heavy industrial equipment design firm, specializes in high-angle conveyor applications for the bulk material handling industry. Founded in 1987, they have built a reputation for innovation in designing sandwich belt type high-angle conveyors. With a team of six, including four engineers, they offer an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where engineers are involved in all phases of project execution—from initial bid to implementation. Job Overview This role is ideal for a new graduate or a junior engineer interested in bulk material handling equipment design. The Structural Engineer will be responsible for designing and modeling Bulk Material Handling Conveyor Systems & Equipment and will perform both engineering and drafting work. This is a hands-on position where the engineer will be involved in project management, pricing, and equipment layout. Key Responsibilities Engineering & Design: Work on the structural design and layout of conveyor systems and supporting structures. Project Management: Engage in all project phases, including pricing, engineering, modeling, and startup. Drafting & Modeling: Perform AutoCAD design work; there are no dedicated drafters or designers. Structural Analysis: Utilize AISC design methods, FEA, and dynamic analysis (preferred). Equipment Layout: Design heavy industrial weldments and components (not package conveyor systems). Collaboration: Work with clients, vendors, and internal teams on design implementation. Site Visits & Travel: Assist in future domestic and international site visits for equipment assessment and business meetings.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Focus) Proficiency in AutoCAD for structural and equipment layout design Basic knowledge of FEA (Finite Element Analysis)
Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree or Advanced Education in Structural or Mechanical Engineering Experience with Inventor (or similar 3D modeling software) 1-5 years of experience in heavy industrial equipment or structural design Prior work with bulk material handling equipment or heavy structural components
