Your Opportunity
Our Buildings team in Raleigh, NC is seeking an enthusiastic Structural Engineer to collaborate on the design of facilities with Architects, Interior Designers, and other Buildings Engineers. The position will provide structural support for K-12 education, higher education, commercial, federal, municipal, and industrial building projects, as part of the integrated services design team.
Your Key Responsibilities
Engages in the development of structural design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats
Performs design calculations per code and client requirements.
Collaborates with structural team lead for structural design and overall management of projects as part of a project team.
Works closely with team lead and other engineers on large projects of high complexity.
Provides mentoring and assists in training of structural designers and EITs.
Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers
Prepares and revises documentation in various structural phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.
Utilizes BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of building's structural systems and provides markups for junior engineers/designers
Provides review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to RFIs, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks
Assists with the development of proposals for projects of varying size and complexity
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Demonstrated ability and desire to work with, and contribute to, a larger team (people management experience, including project-related work, is highly desirable)
Requisite knowledge and application of structural material design codes, standards, and applicable building codes.
Working knowledge of several different construction types including steel, concrete, wood and masonry.
Understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
Strong knowledge of structural systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others
Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
Superior verbal and written communication skills.
Strong problem-solving skills
Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit; Structural Component Design Software, Comprehensive Building Analysis Software, and Structure Finite Element Analysis such as Tekla, Bently/RAM Products, Risa 3D, and/or CSI Products.
Valid driver's license with a good driving record
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering is required. Master's degree preferred
Licensed Professional Engineer
Minimum of 8 years of experience
Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
