Job Purpose
BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Supplier Development Engineer, Sr. II. This role develops, implements, leads and drives global supplier quality strategies for semiconductors. Also, this role acts as Center of Expertise for manufacturing process of the respective commodity (Semiconductors).
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Quality Strategy
Create, execute, communicate and maintain global supplier quality strategy for commodity
Create and implement Supplier Vetting Strategy, Supplier Capability Assessment, Supplier Selection (Pre-Sourcing) and Development Strategy, and Key Supplier Performance Metrics
In collaboration with Global Commodity Manager, develop and implement supplier quality roadmap
Identify new technologies that support BorgWarner's growth and product leadership position in the market
Identify and develop Suppliers that meet and/or exceed PDS long-term expectations that result in a differentiation in the marketplace
Execute global quality assessment and Training of suppliers and BW SDE-Semiconductors
Track and communicate global commodity industry trends, manufacturing strategies, technology factors and opportunities in the global marketplace
Supplier Development:
Center of Expertise for manufacturing process of the respective commodity (Semiconductors)
Develop model for compliance matrix and assess supplier’s competencies to assure quality competitiveness in pursuit of new business opportunities.
Owns and governs the supplier quality vetting and selection framework, with authority to approve or escalate sourcing decisions based on risk, capability, and strategic fit
Collaborates cross-functionally with Global Commodity Management, Engineering, Program Management, and Plant Operations to drive supplier performance, change management, resolve systemic quality issues, and influence sourcing decisions to improve Quality/Cost/Time
Establish and lead supplier technical site assessment. Coordinate and perform supplier process audits, corrective action audits, and quality assessment including new supplier assessments in cooperation with GCM and Engineering
Lead resolution of quality issues with suppliers. Coordinate cross functional technical problem resolution at or related to supplier
Conduct supplier quality training at suppliers to meet BW requirements, or training in PDS Plants to train SQE and labs
Mentors and develops regional Supplier Development Engineers, building technical depth and leadership capability across the global quality organization in the respective commodity
What We Are Looking For
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year College or University required
Semiconductor Commodity experience required, minimum 5+ years
10+ years Supply Management experience working in Automotive Production environment preferred
Increasing responsibility in an automotive production environment
Proven record in Manufacturing, Supplier Quality and Process Improvement initiatives
Demonstrated competence in negotiating skills and assessing vendors
Excellent Quality Orientation
Ability to provide training, coaching and mentoring to mid-level SDE’s
Ability to travel 50%-60% of the time
Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
