Job Summary
The Supply Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that suppliers deliver quality parts, materials and services and works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
* New Supplier Selection * Work with the sourcing team to pre-visit suppliers and can identify a suitable supplier from a technical point of view. * New production development projects and resourcing projects * Interfaces with engineering groups to develop inspection plans and sampling rates. * Work with suppliers on drawing reviews and follow-up the questions/issues. * Understand the template of quality plan-QP(PPAP) and can instruct/coach supplier to complete QP(PPAP). * Be able to identify critical manufacture process and on-site monitor/evaluate the process according to the WI or QP. * Approve sample according to QP and can identify any issue in sample failure and solve it accordingly * Provides direction to Receiving Inspectors on new parts. * Mass production quality management and supplier development * Track quality data, identify root causes of recurring failures, develop and implement corrective actions. * Perform quality audits at supplier facilities to ensure good manufacturing practices are met. * Responsible for building a strong working relationship with the Purchasing department to collectively improve supplier performance. * Reviews and approves deviations. * Reviews supplier Corrective Action Requests to ensure corrective actions are effective. * Performs root cause analysis of defects. * Is an active member of the Material Review Board and responsible for properly disposing of defective material. * Qualifying new suppliers. * Drives process improvements at suppliers. * Supplier development * Define goal for key supplier based on history performance and monitoring the trend. * Regular communication of performance with key suppliers' top management team. * Set up face to face Quality Review Meeting with supplier management team when necessary
Education and Experience Requirements
* Bachelors degree in Engineering or a technical field * Minimum of 5 years experience in Quality engineering. * Must be familiar with a wide range of manufacturing processes including metal working, plastics, printed circuit board assembly, coatings and cable assembly. * Must have solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing in a production environment, Lean/Six Sigma training and/or ASQ certification is desired.
