Full Time, Direct Hire Position
$40-$75 per Hour Plus OT & Bonuses
Our client - a national leader in disaster resilience, infrastructure innovation, and cutting-edge power distribution systems - is expanding its elite Field Services team across North America and is now on the hunt for a subject matter expert (SME). Please note this is being posted in multiple states as they have over 9 field offices (and are still growing.)
What You'll Do
This position serves as the technical subject matter expert for low and medium voltage switchgear systems, supporting field service operations across North America through system integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of power distribution products.
• Key Responsibilities: Provide hands-on leadership and support for field technicians during commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of LV/MV switchgear, power breakers, and protection relays.
Lead integration of new power technologies into existing systems, ensuring compatibility, performance, and alignment with customer-specific designs.
Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues in the field, working closely with internal teams and external equipment vendors.
Analyze and optimize power system performance, implement reliability improvements, and document system configurations and upgrades.
Participate in site startups, punch list resolution, factory testing, and project execution planning for field service initiatives.
Travel up to 50% for site work, training sessions, and factory testing, including independent or team-based commissioning efforts. You're a Great Fit If You Have
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE/MSEE) with multiple years of electrical engineering experience, including several years working with LV switchgear and power breakers.
Skilled in power system controls, protective relays, and monitoring technologies, including EPMS, BMS, and data center systems.
Proficient in communication protocols such as Modbus/TCP, OPC, DNP3, TCP/IP, IoT, and related tools like Loop2k and Modscan.
Familiar with major power distribution equipment and components from ABB, Schneider, and Janitza.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills, with the ability to interpret technical documentation and resolve complex system issues both remotely and on-site.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
