System Safety Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated System Safety Engineer to join us in Tucson, AZ.

As a System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Executing with a theoretical to advanced knowledge of MIL-STD-882E requirements
  • Performing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses
  • Work autonomously and with limited supervision to empower representatives to gain safety approval from appropriate Safety Review Board authorities
  • Working with all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
  • Collaborating with program Safety leadership and program stakeholders from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Performing System Safety Program, Hazard analyses or Design analyses
  • Preparing input to safety briefings of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
  • Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
  • Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
  • Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design

This position is posted as ONSITE and will be based at Raytheon's Tucson, AZ location.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)
  • Three years experience with: System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Experience with weapon combat systems
  • Experience with DoD System Safety Programs
  • Ability to solve complex problems by leveraging available resources and research material
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to contribute to a safety program and provide support to safety personnel

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidates work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the companys performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
