Systems Engineer – Missile Defense Systems
Location: Huntsville, AL (% Onsite) Clearance Required: Active Secret (Top Secret preferred) Program Overview:
Join a fast-paced, mission-driven engineering team supporting the modernization of the U.S. homeland missile defense architecture. This role contributes to a large-scale command-and-control platform that integrates multiple sensors to track and intercept incoming ballistic threats. This position is part of a ground-based missile defense effort focused on software and hardware integration across a distributed defense platform. Role Summary:
The Systems Engineer will join the Launch and Missile Defense Systems team and support systems integration, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and requirements management for a complex DoD system. The role involves collaboration across hardware and software disciplines and requires hands-on experience with SysML tools and structured systems analysis. Note: This is a full-time onsite position. Remote or hybrid options are not available. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and manage system-level requirements in DOORS.
Support hardware/software integration in a multi-vendor, multi-domain environment.
Implement MBSE using SysML to describe and analyze system behavior and interfaces.
Collaborate across engineering teams to ensure design traceability and compliance.
Contribute to system modeling and architecture in support of verification planning and risk reduction.
Support documentation, technical reviews, and stakeholder briefings.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 5+ years of relevant systems engineering experience
Proficiency with IBM DOORS
Experience in missile defense or large-scale DoD systems
Hands-on experience integrating software and hardware systems
MBSE experience with SysML modeling
Active Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior use of Cameo or equivalent SysML modeling tools
Familiarity with INCOSE Systems Engineering practices
CompTIA Security+ or DoD certification
Active Top Secret clearance (in-scope)
Strong independent contributor and team collaborator
Willingness to travel up to 10%

Work schedule is a 9x80 (every other Friday off)
