Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated RF Engineer to support small cell and DAS deployments in the West region, with a focus on delivering high-performance wireless solutions in a dynamic and collaborative environment. This role combines RF design , project management , power engineering , and small cell deployment expertise to support sales, implementation, and ongoing optimization of wireless networks.
You'll work across multiple project lifecycles-design, implementation, and optimization-collaborating with both internal stakeholders and external partners. This position requires a strong foundation in RF propagation and wireless technologies including LTE, 5G, small cells , and antenna/radio configurations .
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering
Create and propose DAS and small cell network designs based on customer and business requirements.
Perform CW testing, propagation modeling, and use RF planning tools such as Atoll , iBwave , and MapInfo .
Evaluate node candidates and validate engineering drawings and construction closeouts.
Design small cell node power systems (AC/DC) using AutoCAD and create associated schematics and BOMs.
Ensure compliance with FCC, OSHA, and municipal regulations related to RF Emissions and interference.
Project Management & Implementation
Coordinate and manage multiple active deployments, from design through commissioning and optimization.
Work directly with internal stakeholders and external vendors to manage scope, schedule, and budget.
Utilize Crown workflow systems for project tracking, cost estimation, RF forecasting, and database updates.
Testing & Optimization
Perform RF and fiber testing, troubleshooting, and drive testing using tools such as:
Spectrum analyzers, PIM/Sweep testers, pilot scanners, power meters, and CPE equipment.
Conduct system optimization, test analysis, and recommend upgrades or configuration changes.
Support system commissioning and 5-step DAS/Small Cell deployment process.
Collaboration & Innovation
Interface with customer engineering teams, maintaining a high level of professionalism and technical support.
Work closely with national RF teams on design standards and new technology trials.
Support innovation in design tools, reporting, and automation using platforms like Power BI and GIS .
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science (BSEE required; MSEE preferred)
2-4 years of hands-on RF Engineering experience
Proficient in small cell architecture, deployment, and commissioning
Strong understanding of wireless technologies: LTE, CBRS, UMTS, CDMA (5G experience preferred)
Hands-on experience with:
RF propagation tools (Atoll, iBwave)
AutoCAD for node and power designs
RF test tools (spectrum analyzers, power meters, PIM/Sweep)
MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Power BI, GIS tools
Familiarity with fiber design, small cell RRU configuration, antenna systems, and DAS integration
