Position Summary: Supports the organization’s installation, configuration and day-to-day tasks associated with ensuring efficient operation. Analyzes business and technical requirements, application issues, determines impact on applications and interfacing systems and proposes appropriate solutions.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Engineering, design, testing and installation of new technologies, network expansion activities, software releases and upgrades
Responsible for local-area networks (LAN), wide-area networks (WAN), network segments, and Internet and intranet systems.
Oversite of the Central Office Techs and Installers.
Creating, executing and managing project plans as part of the Public Service Management Team.
Monitor and analyze network performance across the organization’s LANs, WANs, VOIP and wireless deployments.
Plan and implement any improvement, modification, or replacement of network infrastructure components.
Troubleshoots network performance issues and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan.
Monitor and adjust the performance of existing networks and continually survey the current computer site to determine future network needs.
Ensure that service delivery systems are well documented, including network diagrams, accurate hardware/software inventories, troubleshooting and maintenance processes to ensure that adequate information and guidelines are provided for the field and support staff.
Network capacity assessment and growth planning.
Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
FCC Regulatory
Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field with a minimum of 5+ years of progressive work experience.
FE and/or PE license is a plus.
FCC license is preferred.
In-depth working knowledge of Alcatel-Lucent 7000 Series, Knowledge of Arista routers, Cisco, and Nokia is preferred, GR303, Muxes, DACS, and other standard central office equipment.
Experience working in and around Carrier POP/Data Center Office environments
Experience interfacing with LECs, ISPs, and other vendors or service providers.
In-depth knowledge of network architecture and communication technologies
Must be available during non-standard working hours for deployments, emergency outages, and maintenance windows
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities at one time and consistently achieve results on a timely basis.
