The candidate will lead design and plan production teams to successfully deliver transportation infrastructure projects, including freeways, highways, roadways, and bridges. Ideal candidates should have proven experience managing both Phase I and Phase II transportation projects in Illinois, preferably with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the Illinois Tollway. Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads is required.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and drafters, ensuring successful project delivery.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and external agencies.
- Coordinate with subconsultants to ensure seamless project integration.
- Provide direction and training to staff on project engineering tasks, including roadway geometrics, corridor modeling, and staging.
- Prepare comprehensive project design and environmental reports.
- Assist with the preparation of proposals and contracts.
- Manage project financials and budgets to ensure successful outcomes.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance processes.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois required.
- 7 to 12 years of progressive experience in transportation design.
- In-depth knowledge of Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Illinois Tollway design engineering practices, standards, and documentation.
- Proficiency with MicroStation V8i SS10, OpenRoads Designer Connect Edition (CE), ProjectWise, AutoTURN, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with design teams, clients, and agencies.
- Excellent decision-making abilities, flexibility, a commitment to quality, and keen attention to detail.
