Job Summary:
The Weld Engineer will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support for welding processes and procedures. This role involves developing, implementing, and optimizing welding techniques to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to solve welding-related challenges and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, review, and qualify welding procedures (WPS) and welder performance qualifications (WPQ).
- Provide technical support to production personnel on welding processes and techniques.
- Troubleshoot and resolve welding-related issues, including defects and process deviations.
- Conduct failure analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Optimize welding processes to improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance quality.
- Review and interpret codes, standards, and specifications related to welding (e.g., ASME, AWS).
- Participate in the selection and evaluation of welding equipment and consumables.
- Collaborate with design engineers to ensure weldability of components and assemblies.
- Maintain accurate records of welding procedures, qualifications, and inspections.
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Weld Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW) and metallurgy.
- Familiarity with welding codes and standards (ASME, AWS).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
