Advanced Technologies Design Engineer - Systems (Gas Turbines)
New Yesterday
Snapshot of your day
We are looking for a highly skilled Research and Development Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on system level modeling, simulation, and software development to support the design, analysis and optimization of gas turbine performance and operability. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between component-level engineering and full-engine system behavior through advanced tools and programming. The ideal candidate also should have a good understanding of component integration and large gas turbine fundamentals. Key responsibilities include gathering requirements, developing, documenting, deploying and maintaining system level tools.
How you'll make an impact
Develop and maintain system-level models for gas turbines, integrating thermodynamic, mechanical, and control subsystems.
Create and deploy software tools for system performance prediction, transient analysis, and operability assessments.
Implement automation scripts and multi-disciplinary optimization (MDO) frameworks to support design trade studies.
Collaborate with component teams (e.g., compressor, turbine, combustor, controls) to ensure accurate system integration.
Apply AI/ML, digital twins, and data analytics to enhance system-level decision-making and predictive capabilities.
Support requirements definition, architecture development, and system validation activities.
Document tools and workflows, and provide training to engineering teams
What you bring
Experience with system modeling tools (e.g., NPSS, in-house modeling tools).
Familiarity with control systems, sensor integration, and data acquisition.
Proficient programming experience (Python, Fortran, bash, C, C++, Linux).
Must be eligible to work on control technology as required by U.S. export control regulations.
U.S. Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
Technical Expertise:
Knowledge of thermodynamic cycle analysis, steady-state and transient simulations, and engine operability.
Exposure to digital twin frameworks and AI/ML applications in system-level engineering.
Working knowledge of Gitlab and Linux.
Professional Experience:
3+ years of experience (or a PhD) in the gas or aero turbine industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to digital twin frameworks and AI/ML applications in system-level engineering.
Knowledge of high-performance computing (HPC) and cloud-based simulation environments (e.g., Azure, AWS).
