Job Overview
- Perform in engineering projects to develop, maintain and support crushing aftermarket components, products, and services per market demands, as well as for continual process improvements
- Perform or conduct engineering evaluations including investigations, basic calculations, and tests that have well defined requirements and desired outcomes in support of crushing products in operation
- Collaborate with OE engineering, Product Management, and Aftermarket teams in the continuous pursuit of product improvements
- Act as project manager/lead on field service and upgrade activities, owning a solution from the conceptual phase through the field installation phase
- Take responsibility for one's own learning and development for the mutual benefit of oneself and the organization
- Participate in and support programs for effective communication of engineering issues to ensure compliance with global standards for design and safety of products and services, as well as engineering best practices
- Participate in and support improvements to streamline engineering processes used to design, develop, maintain, and support components, products, and/or services
Key Job Responsibilities
- Act as point of contact with customer service representatives (CSRs) to troubleshoot issues and support field machines
- Work alongside other aftermarket personnel to support machine breakdowns to support customer needs using existing inventory
- As needed, support customers and sales teams directly to resolve field issues
- Support quotations with engineering calculations, conceptual designs, cost estimation, and sales/customer reviews of proposed solutions
- Work alongside the internal supply chain team with vendors/suppliers to as part of quotation process
- Generate layouts/drawings as needed to support sold upgrade kits and field changes
- Adjust/revise machine Bills of Material to support field machine upgrades and changes
- Support multiple facilities that manufacture aftermarket crushing parts and components
- Travel to customer sites as needed to complete machine audits, resolve performance issues, and discuss machine upgrades
Qualifications/Requirements
- Self-starter with capacity to grow in all career facets
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or equivalent experience level
- 1-3 years' experience in heavy equipment/machinery industries
- Mining industry experience preferred but not required
- Experience with mechanical systems, both at the academic and practical levels
- Strong background in mechanical design
- Fundamental knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems
- Project management capability or willingness to take on project management activities through aftermarket solution design cycle (Cradle-to-grave ownership)
- Good verbal and written skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with vendors, manufacturing, supply chain, field service personnel, and customers
- Proficient in CAD programs: Inventor, AutoCAD, or equivalents
- Working knowledge of SAP
