Strategic Innovation Group (SIG) is seeking a highly skilled AI Solutions Engineer to join our growing technology and innovation team. This is a full-time, remote-friendly role focused on building, integrating, and operationalizing advanced AI capabilities across enterprise cloud environments.

$160,000 to $200,000+

The purpose of this engagement is to provide specialized AI empowerment engineering services, leveraging expertise across both AWS and Azure AI technical stacks. Specifically, this work supports data ecosystem readiness in areas such as data preparation, matching, and governance for enterprise AI projects.

The AI Solutions Engineer will focus on enabling, developing, and innovating within enterprise AI environments, supporting both the architecture and implementation of advanced AI solutions. They will build and deploy AI applications leveraging large language models (LLMs), agent frameworks, and cloud-native services.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of engineering or software development experience, including 2-3+ years working directly with large language models (LLMs), vector databases, and cloud-native AI platforms. You will be at the forefront of developing scalable, secure, and high-impact AI systems that enable continuous innovation for government and commercial clients.

Additionally, this position is expected to be generally remote, with occasional visits to the office and client facilities in the Washington, DC metropolitan area as needed.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:


  • AI engineers will serve as both developers and solution architects
  • Engage in hands-on coding, model integration, and system deployment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for data preparation and delivery
  • Continuously monitor, assess, and refine AI solutions based on business feedback
  • Achievement of client-defined performance, reliability, and scalability objectives
  • Documented enablement and knowledge transfer to ensure sustainability of AI initiatives
  • Design and implement agent-based task flows, including prompt chaining, API interaction, and vector database integration.
  • Build and deploy AI applications leveraging Claude 3.5+, HuggingFace models, and other foundation models.
  • Develop and maintain scalable and secure AI environments in AWS and Azure.
  • Prepare and align enterprise data to support robust AI data ecosystems.
  • Integrate and operationalize services such as AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, Lambda, and OpenSearch; Azure OpenAI Service, AI Studio, Bot Services, AI Search, and Data Factory.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of total experience in software engineering or system development.
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience working with large language models (LLMs) and AI/ML systems.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with API integration, prompt engineering, and vector database interaction.
  • Demonstrated experience building and deploying AI solutions using AWS and/or Azure AI services.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working with large language models (LLMs) and AI/ML systems.
  • Experience with foundation models such as Claude (v3.5+) and HuggingFace offerings.
  • Familiarity with distributed data processing (e.g., Apache Spark).
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Exposure to Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools and enterprise automation use cases.
  • Prior experience in federal contracting or highly regulated enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native services such as AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, OpenSearch, Azure OpenAI, AI Studio, Data Factory, and related tools.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation skills and a commitment to scalable, maintainable engineering practices.
