Network Engineer - F5 Specialist

A leading financial services organization is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer with a specialization in F5 technology. This role is a key part of our IT Infrastructure team, where you will be instrumental in designing, deploying, and maintaining highly available application solutions across multiple data centers.

This is a dynamic opportunity for a professional to advance their career in IT Infrastructure. The successful candidate will be a leader in our transition from on-premise data center operations to a hybrid-cloud environment through a significant platform refresh. Your role is vital in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our network infrastructure to support our mission of providing reliable and secure financial services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with various IT Infrastructure teams to plan and support internal projects and migration efforts, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
• Administer, maintain, and optimize our F5 platform equipment, which includes managing BIG-IP TMOS versions, patching, addressing vulnerabilities, and implementing bug fixes.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for internal teams to understand project needs, and then design and implement technical solutions. This involves tasks such as setting up virtual IPs, load balancing, decommissioning services, and troubleshooting issues.
• Develop and implement IT controls, key performance/risk metrics, and manage IT assets related to perimeter security.
• Perform lifecycle management, including performance reporting, and contribute to the strategic vision for the F5 platform.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to provide incident resolution, troubleshooting, and other service management support.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in network engineering with a strong emphasis on F5 technologies.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered.
• In-depth hands-on experience with F5 products, including Local Traffic Manager (LTM), Access Policy Manager (APM), Application Security Manager (ASM), and Global Traffic Manager (GTM), as well as knowledge of load balancing, encryption methods, and security principles.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols like TCP/IP, HTTP, and SSL/TLS, along with routing protocols such as BGP.
• Proficiency in F5 physical and virtual architecture, device administration, and the creation of standards, policies, and configuration documentation.
• Experience in datacenter operations, firewall administration, DNS/DHCP/IPAM management, and proficiency with the ServiceNow platform.
• Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
• Automation and scripting skills (e.g., Python, Ansible, and Azure DevOps) are a definite plus.
• Preferred certifications include Network+, F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator, or F5 Certified Technology Specialist.
