Job Summary
The Application Engineer is a technically proficient and customer-oriented professional responsible for delivering advanced support, conducting product training, and facilitating the integration of solutions into customer systems. This role acts as a key technical advisor, bridging the gap between customer needs and internal product development, while contributing to the continuous improvement of power reliability and system performance.
Responsibilities Provides advanced-level technical support to internal and external customers. Delivers expert-level product application training. Offers on-site technical support and troubleshooting for complex customer issues. Conducts proof-of-concept testing and validation for key customer applications. Communicates customer insights ("voice of the customer") to Product Management and Marketing teams. Consults with customers on system designs, specifications, and technical documentation. Develops technical papers and videos to demonstrate product integration and application. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure a consistent and unified customer service experience. Researches and evaluates competitive and emerging technologies. Documents customer interactions and technical inquiries in the CRM system. Continuously improves support processes related to power reliability. Qualifies system design requirements through functional specification reviews or direct customer engagement. Represents the company as a subject matter expert at trade shows, conferences, customer visits, social media, and industry forums. Participates in local, national, and international meetings in accordance with corporate policies. Provides emergency service support as needed. Assists sales engineers in developing strategic accounts and converting opportunities into successful outcomes. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering. 5 - 7 years of experience in industrial electrical systems or surge protection technologies. Familiarity with NFPA 79, NEC, and UL standards for surge protective devices (SPDs). Hands-on experience with: Installing and configuring SPDs in industrial environments Working with OEMs, panel builders, or automation systems Troubleshooting and optimizing power reliability solutions Knowledge of wiring, grounding and bonding systems, lightning protection and electrical safety codes is essential. Individuals must be highly technically competent. In addition, he or she will need to be flexible and customer oriented. While this position is technically oriented, everything done is to support our customers and drive sales into the local market. That said, a "customer first" mindset is paramount. Essential Job Functions Position will be based out of Houston, TX, and our Customer Technology Center This will be a hybrid position, where on-site days will be required (for training and customer support) and days working from home will be permitted. The general in-office guidance is 3 days per week, but training requirements will force deviations from that. As a result, our hybrid approach with this position will be very flexible.
