Aegis Worldwide is partnered with an Automotive Supplier on the East Side of Indianapolis who is looking to add an Automation Controls Engineer to their team. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Automation Controls Engineer to join our team at a leading automotive parts manufacturing and supply facility. This role will focus on the development, integration, and support of automation systems across production lines. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing automation, with a strong background in PLC programming, robotics, motion control, and industrial systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron) using Ladder Logic , Function Block , and Structured Text .
Develop and support HMI/SCADA interfaces (FactoryTalk View, Omron).
Integrate and program industrial robots (FANUC, Yaskawa, UR), including calibration and safety compliance.
Configure and tune motion control systems , including servo drives , stepper motors , and VFDs .
Interpret electrical schematics and design control panels using AutoCAD Electrical .
Diagnose and repair electrical , pneumatic , and hydraulic systems.
Collaborate with mechanical teams for machine assembly , including blueprint reading, precision component assembly, and basic fabrication tasks.
Participate in the commissioning of new machines and production cells.
Ensure compliance with safety standards , internal specifications, and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation (Preferred) Associate's Degree (Encouraged)
2+ years of experience in a manufacturing automation or controls engineering role, preferably in the automotive industry .
Proficient in PLC programming , robotics , and motion control systems .
Solid understanding of pneumatic/hydraulic circuits and machine build practices .
Experience with mechanical drawing interpretation and fabrication basics .

Project Management: Capable of managing schedules, resources, and budgets across multiple automation projects.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, engineers, technicians, and vendors.
Attention to Detail: Maintains high standards for safety, wiring practices, and documentation accuracy.
Documentation: Creates clear and professional SOPs , user manuals , and training materials for internal teams and end users.
