Automation Controls Engineer Charlotte, NC | Full-Time | Industrial Automation & Robotics A leading U.S.-based engineering and manufacturing firm specializing in high-precision machining and automation systems is seeking an Automation Controls Engineer to join its Charlotte-based team. With a nationwide footprint and decades of technical expertise, this company delivers integrated automation solutions across advanced manufacturing environments. What Youll Do Design and implement industrial control systems (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA) for CNC-integrated automation. Program ladder logic and optimize system communication between robotics, sensors, and machine tools. Troubleshoot and resolve integration, sequencing, and performance issues across hardware/software. Lead testing, commissioning, and validation of new systems in-house and onsite. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, applications, and support teams. Support machine runoffs, training, and documentation for end users. What You Bring Experience with PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens, or similar). Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus). Strong understanding of control systems, diagnostics, and safety integration. Hands-on experience with robotic automation and CNC systems is a plus. Familiarity with risk assessments, safety PLCs, or SolidWorks Electrical a bonus. Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or related engineering fieldor equivalent experience.
