The Automation Engineer is responsible for collaborating with Maintenance and Production teams to maximize safety and optimize Nucor Rebar Fabrication processes.
Basic Job Functions: Training team members across locations to support consistent performance and knowledge sharing.
Using engineering principles, algorithms and techniques to trouble shoot and improve both the process and equipment.
Developing and implementing improvement plans involving both hardware and software systems.
Providing support outside of normal business hours as needed, including flexible scheduling for unscheduled and scheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Assisting with regional maintenance initiatives and supporting cross-site collaboration.
Adapting to evolving responsibilities as assigned by the area Supervisor/Manager in response to operational needs.
Traveling regularly to other regional NRF locations to identify improvement opportunities, resolve issues, and share best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Process, Electrical, Automation Engineering or related field OR
2 years of industrial maintenance and automation experience
Preferences: aSa software experience
2 - 3 years of experience in a reinforcing steel fabrication environment
Physical Demands: Some heavy lifting may be necessary
Working conditions can be noisy/ dusty/ hot/ cold
Special Demands: Due to the operating conditions of the position, this is a safety sensitive position
Frequent travel to regional branches
