Business Intelligence Engineer II

Slate is looking for an experienced Business Intelligence Engineer II to help our Commercial team be successful in the electric vehicle space. You must be able to thrive and succeed in a fast-paced startup environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the company's success.

Design, develop and maintain scalable, automated reporting systems, dashboards, and BI tools to support strategic and operational decision-making. Collaborate with business stakeholders (product, finance, and operations) to gather requirements and translate them into robust analytics solutions. Build and maintain ETL/data pipelines and data models in cloud environments (Tableau, AWS Redshift, S3, Glue). Perform deep-dive analyses on trends, performance metrics and anomalies; present findings and recommendations through verbal and written narratives. Drive self-service BI adoption by developing documentation, training materials and enabling stakeholders. Monitor data quality, troubleshoot issues, and optimize pipeline and query performance. Participate in design reviews, share best practices, and mentor junior team members.

4+ years of experience in BI and analytics roles. Proficiency in complex SQL queries and data modeling, particularly star schema and relational modeling. Experience with BI visualization tools such as Tableau, Quicksight, Looker or equivalent. Working experience with scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, etc.) for automation and data manipulation. Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, S3, Athena or GCP/BigQuery). Advanced knowledge of cloud BI ecosystems (AWS Redshift, S3, Glue, Athena, Tableau). Statistical analysis or data mining skills, with experience using R, Pandas or similar. Experience leading BI initiatives and owning cross-functional analytics projects. Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to present technical solutions to non-technical audiences.
