Job Summary:
Mercury Systems is seeking a motivated, Program Area Chief Engineer (PACE) within the Sensor Systems, Edge Computing product line. The Edge Computing product line produces innovative processing technologies and architectures in support of both manned and unmanned sensor and C4I systems. The product line focuses on rugged rack-mountable hardware and other edge processing form factors.
This new position is responsible for engineering cost, schedule, and technical execution of the programs within the overall Edge product line. The PACE reports to the Sensor Systems Program Area Chief Engineer, and directly oversees the program Chief Engineers on the programs within the product line. The individual will be familiar with the latest Edge Processing technology trends, will be able to interact regularly with the DoD sensor and C4I processing customer base, and they will also be a technical developer of product roadmaps for rugged rack-mountable processing subsystems. The individual will provide technical leadership on new business development for this product line. This position may require occasional business-related travel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Program Area Chief Engineer is the single engineering leadership point of contact and is responsible for the engineering execution of an entire product line, overseeing all technical, schedule, and financial aspects.
Collaborate with the program Chief Engineers to establish and manage each program’s vision, strategy, and goals to align the program with the customer and facilitate conflict resolution.
Ensure technical integrity and engineering execution across all IPTs, CPTs, and disciplines within the programs.
Develop and execute technology roadmaps in alignment with long term product strategies. This will be performed in collaboration with the Program Area Product Line Manager. They will recommend IRAD projects based on marketplace trends and will marshal concepts through the approval process.
You will be the primary product line technical POC with the customer senior technical counterparts.
You will have the authority to manage all program engineering related activities across the programs.
Manage the program Chief Engineers to ensure that the overall system design is optimized to meet the required performance within the project constraints (cost and schedule), and production efforts execute as planned.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 12 years of mixed experience in high performance sensor processing systems design, integration and test, and system qualification.
Demonstrated prior success as Lead Design Engineer, Lead Systems Engineer, Program Chief Engineer, or Integrated Product Team Lead.
Design experience with sensor processing for C4I, radar and other DoD processing applications of similar complexity.
Demonstrated prior success as Technical Lead on major proposals, and ability to brief internally and externally at the senior executive level.
Strong systems and design engineering experience, with demonstrated ability to establish a strong technical baseline with disciplined change management, while operating in a rapid development environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead across a highly multi-disciplinary role, requiring experience across all design engineering disciplines, technical supplier management, business development, and program leadership.
Proven ability to develop strategic rugged rack-mountable processing subsystems and communicate product and project design strategies to internal stakeholders and external customers.
Ability to independently produce whitepapers and conference briefings to support the capture of new opportunities and marketing of emerging technologies.
Ability to independently interact and lead engagement with senior customers.
Strong team player with good interpersonal skills as well as excellent written/verbal communication skills.
An active DoD security clearance is preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Mathematics
Preferred Qualifications:
Factory establishment and production experience.
Capture Management and Program Management leadership experience
Knowledge of 5G DoD applications and architectures
Additional Details:
A significant part of the Edge engineering team is in Chantilly, VA. This role will require on-site support at the Mercury Chantilly, VA site
Preferred candidates local to Chantilly, VA
