Position Overview Space Systems Command (SSC) is the United States Space Force field command responsible for acquiring, developing, and delivering resilient space capabilities to maintain strategic advantage and address emerging threats. The ideal Chief Engineer has extensive experience leading the design, development, and integration of complex space systems within the national security space enterprise. Expertise in enterprise architecture, mission engineering, and technical risk management is essential, with a proven ability to align system design with operational needs in contested and resilient space environments. Essential Job Functions Technical Authority & Architecture Oversight: Lead system architecture validation to ensure alignment with SSC mission objectives and resiliency goals. Engineering Integration & Execution: Oversee integration across space, ground, cyber, and communications disciplines to ensure cohesive design and performance. Technical Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks throughout the program lifecycle, including design trades and system vulnerabilities. Mission Thread and Capability Alignment: Ensure system designs support key mission threads, CONOPS, and operational requirements through rigorous systems engineering. Stakeholder Engagement & Technical Leadership: Coordinate with government, industry, and mission partners, providing strategic technical guidance. Minimum Qualifications MA/MS degree with over 10 years of experience Expertise in highly classified space control systems (space, ground, C2) Experience maturing technologies across TRL levels Proficiency in architecture and requirements development Knowledge of space situational awareness architecture and limitations Strong systems engineering and program management skills in space and information operations Experience in space system design, development, and operations Knowledge of space control technologies such as optical sensors, radar, signals intelligence, and communications Ability to develop and coordinate program documentation Active TS SCI clearance eligibility Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance Life and disability insurance Retirement plan (401(k)) Paid time off and holidays Flexible work schedules and spending accounts STI-TEC offers opportunities for professionals, veterans, military, and recent graduates.
