Our office in Los Angeles is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer to join us in our Los Angeles office. **Please note**: we are open minded to candidate living in Georgia and Texas as well. This could be fully remote with site visits for the right candidate as well.
Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Roadways Geometry Design Engineer based in Los Angeles, CA. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading and supporting the geometric design of roadway infrastructure projects, including highways, arterials, and interchanges, using Bentley's InRoads and OpenRoads platforms. This position offers a mix of in-office and remote work flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support roadway geometry design tasks for transportation projects at various stages, from conceptual to final design
- Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, profiles, and 3D corridor models using Bentley InRoads and OpenRoads
- Ensure compliance with applicable design standards (AASHTO, FHWA, state DOT guidelines)
- Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams including drainage, structures, utilities, and environmental groups
- Participate in design reviews, value engineering, and quality control processes
- Prepare technical reports, plan sets, and design documentation
- Assist in mentoring junior engineers and reviewing their work
- Support proposal development and client presentations as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in roadway geometric design
- Proven expertise in Bentley's InRoads and OpenRoads Designer platforms
- Strong understanding of US roadway design standards (AASHTO Green Book, state DOT manuals, MUTCD)
- Experience with CAD production and digital delivery workflows (MicroStation, ProjectWise, etc.)
- Strong technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills
- PE license preferred (or ability to obtain it in the near term)
