Responsibilities
Develop the scope, technical basis, installation and testing requirements for engineering design changes, which include but are not limited to, pipe hanger design, structural analysis, pipe stress analysis, soil and steel/concrete structure evaluations/field support, seismic equipment qualification, and weld design.
Research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, determines and presents recommendations to resolve issues.
Provide ongoing support for assigned engineering design changes through work order reviews, corrective action program assignments, and field installation support activities.
Develop or revise design specifications or technical requirements documents to support engineering design changes.
Develop or revise complex engineering calculations impacted by engineering design changes.
Develop safety screens and evaluations that support engineering design changes.
Revise site design basis documents, design drawings, and regulatory documents impacted by engineering design changes.
Basic/Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
A Master 's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
4-6 years of engineering experience.
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
A Master's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Proficient in engineering theories and principles.
Proficient in principles of project management.
Experience in the utility industry.
State registration as a Professional Engineer.
Working level knowledge of pipe stress, structural analysis software (GTSTRUDL or equivalent), pipe hanger design, seismic equipment qualification, weld design, proficiency with AISC, ACI, and AWS codes
Soils and concrete experience (design evaluations/field issues)
Experience with nuclear industry standard design process.
Special Requirements
In lieu of 1 year of nuclear experience, a selected candidate is subject to the oversight and written approval authority of a designated qualified individual until the selected candidate becomes fully qualified.
Able to achieve nuclear site Unescorted Access/Security clearance.
This position may be required to have Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities which could include callouts with a defined response time to the site and an on-call duty rotation requiring the employee to be Fit for Duty.
Required to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, fall protection, etc.) as needed.
Additional hours expected as workload/business need requires.
Occasional overnight travel.
Working Conditions
Typically, an office environment with some work in the plant to conduct system walkdowns and field support of modification implementation.
