The Clinical Technology and Advanced Concepts group is part of our Biotronik NRO team with diverse backgrounds and broad skill sets. We innovate neuromodulation products, interface with physicians, support sales and patient care with data analytics and technical support, publish basic scientific and clinical study results and collaborate with many other R&D teams. SUMMARY:
The Neuromodulation Technology Research Scientist/Engineer provides critical input to the product design and clinical performance evaluation cycle by driving innovative solutions in neuromodulation therapies and product performance research. Typical tasks include the invention, demonstration of feasibility, and prototyping of algorithms, research platforms, and features to support new products, as well as interfacing with software and hardware development teams during the innovation, specification, and prototyping phases of new product development. They develop research strategies by gathering information from clinical and preclinical studies, patient data analytics, literature review, and health economics input. They conduct research by developing prototypes, software, and research protocols to drive innovative healthcare solutions. In addition, they monitor ongoing studies and report new findings/results to the team. The Researcher applies analytical skills to derive insights from clinical datasets and interfaces with field clinical researchers to improve therapeutic outcomes.
Your Responsibilities
- Conduct research, competitive analysis, and literature reviews in the field of neuromodulation; Identify preferred technological solutions and inform product development
- Lead research and testing of new product features, driving improvements in patient identification, care, and outcomes assessment
- Conduct planning of preclinical and clinical studies, procedures, and development evaluations
- Partner with domain specialized teams to help meet needs for regulatory approval, design validation, intellectual property development, and clinical evidence assessment
- Support development of product training and product launch
- Other duties may be assigned according to program needs
Your Profile
- Education / Experience Requirements:
- PhD/MS in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent work experience in research environments.
- MATLAB, Python, C/C++ for data collection and analytics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills
- Strong team player, self-motivated, self-directed, action oriented, able to learn quickly
- Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Preclinical research, electrical and signal processing systems
- Application development experience
- Familiarity with considerations and terminology of health care and/or medical device industry
- While neuromodulation experience would be highly desired, it is not a minimum requirement for this role; we are prepared to train the right candidate
