Control System Design & Development Develop control system designs for hydraulic press lines and automation equipment. Select PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, safety controllers, and other automation hardware based on application requirements. Program and integrate PLC/HMI systems using Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/GuardLogix and Siemens S7/TIA Portal. Design machine safety systems to meet or exceed OSHA, NFPA, and ISO standards. Project Execution & Leadership Serve as the lead control engineer for complex projects, from proposal support through commissioning. Collaborate with engineering, project management, and sales teams to ensure integration of control hardware is aligned with project objectives and customer needs. Oversee wiring and panel layout to ensure optimal functionality, maintainability, and safety. Work closely with project managers to develop schedules, budgets, and resource plans. Provide technical direction to electricians, technicians, and subcontractors. Commissioning & Field Support Travel to customer sites to oversee equipment installation and execute system commissioning. Train customer personnel on system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and system-level issues during installation and after project completion. Documentation & Compliance Generate and maintain electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical. Maintain accurate revision control of all software and hardware design updates. Maintain detailed records of work completed, issues encountered, and solutions implemented. Provide regular updates to leadership on job status, team performance, and operational needs. Qualifications & Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and/or 5+ years of experience designing, programming, and commissioning automated control systems. Expertise with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs are required. Strong technical knowledge of hydraulic systems and electro-hydraulic control integration. Proficiency in industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, Modbus). Ability to read and develop detailed electrical schematics using CAD software. Willing to travel up to 25% to support equipment installation and commissioning is required. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to follow technical instructions. Self-motivated, good communication skills, and ability to prioritize tasks. Available to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays (rare exceptions). Proficient with Microsoft Office Products. Valid driver’s license is required. Ability to lift 40lbs and work in industrial environments. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and GD&T specifications is a plus. Experience with hydraulic press equipment, including stamping, molding, and forging presses is a plus. Master’s degree, PE license or other professional engineering certifications is a plus.
