We are excited to announce an opportunity for a skilled professional to become a part of our dynamic team responsible for designing and implementing one of the largest global core IP networks at Meta, known as the Express Backbone. About the Role: In this role, you will be instrumental in scaling our Express Backbone to meet the demands of our rapidly evolving technology landscape, especially those driven by advancements in AI. You will work on critical routing platforms, protocols, and architecture that connect our data centers and their networks to the global internet. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop solutions to enhance the scalability of the Express Backbone. Lead and facilitate migrations between different network designs through collaborative cross-functional engagement. Conduct in-depth analysis of complex technical issues to troubleshoot problems effectively. Manage relationships with multiple vendors and provide constructive feedback to enhance their products and services. Support team growth through mentorship and onboarding of new hires. Serve as the primary escalation contact for critical incidents affecting the Express Backbone. Minimum Qualifications: 2+ years of experience in coding with languages such as Python, C++, or Go. 6+ years of experience with routing protocols such as BGP, MPLS, or ISIS, including performance tuning and configuration. Proven experience in designing and operating networks with 50 or more backbone nodes. Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years of experience effectively addressing network hardware and topology failures. Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and IPv6. Experience with Software Defined Networking and backbone network design. Knowledge of hardware design principles related to routing and switching. Experience with network device configuration for vendors like Juniper, Cisco, or Arista. Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible or Puppet. Prior experience with Network Management Systems and applications like web servers and load balancers. Compensation: The salary range is between $147,000 and $208,000, in addition to bonus, equity, and benefits.
