Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is hiring a DevSecOps Lead Software Engineer to support the Evolved Strategic SATCOM (ESS) program in El Segundo, CA. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge satellite technology in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Key Duties:
Lead the development and maintenance of pipeline infrastructure supporting multiple software engineering teams across embedded flight software, satellite simulation, databases, cybersecurity, and ground systems. Design, deploy, and manage development, test, and production environments to support full life-cycle software development and integration. Implement and enhance CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, metrics generation, vulnerability scanning, and quality assurance tools. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure DevSecOps practices align with program requirements and drive secure, efficient software delivery. Integrate DevSecOps solutions across diverse software domains to enable scalable, resilient, and secure system development. Lead the development, documentation, and maintenance of standardized, efficient, and innovative DevSecOps processes, tools, methodologies, and performance metrics to support continuous integration, delivery, and deployment of mission-critical software. Drive automation, development, monitoring, and improvement across software development, tooling, testing, integration, deployment, configuration, and security control processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and maintain scalable, robust, and secure software development pipelines. Lead the implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and regulations within the DevSecOps environment. Install and configure integrated software engineering environments based on the DevSecOps framework. Design and develop automation processes and support software build and release activities. Provide technical support to satisfy application security, IT, and customer security directives and requirements. Manage software dependencies, including evaluation, acquisition, licensing, integration, and ongoing maintenance. Support software teams and IT with server upgrades, database support, and setup of virtual environments. Support infrastructure, operating system, and platform hardening to protect systems from cybersecurity threats. Advise engineering and program leadership on software process implementation strategies to ensure compliance and success. Lead DevSecOps training sessions to educate software teams on tools, processes, and best practices. Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education
Required Skills, Experience, and Education: Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time. Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use. Active Secret Clearance (or higher). Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance. Continuous improvement mindset with a strong focus on building automated processes wherever possible. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. 5 or more years of experience in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, integration, and testing. 5 or more years of experience leading software teams and/or managing software projects. 5 or more years of experience in Development Operations (DevOps) and/or Development Security Operations (DevSecOps). 5 or more years of experience with test automation. Experience working in a Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) environment, including use of code versioning, build automation, and test tools. Desired Skills, Experience, and Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science from an accredited institution. Experience in the satellite software domain. Proficiency with the GitLab ecosystem. Experience with Agile software development methodologies. Experience with software containerization and container orchestration. Experience with build automation tools and processes. Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) security controls. Current Security+ or equivalent certification. Proficiency with modern software development methodologies. Proficiency in a variety of software development languages, tools, and techniques. Experience with configuration management and deployment processes. Experience leading projects or individuals through software development lifecycle tasks.
