Electrical Engineer
Location: Onsite – Waynesboro, GA
Long-Term Contract (12+ months)
Per Diem: $150/day (7 days/week)
System One is actively seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for a long-term contract role onsite in Waynesboro, GA. This position plays a strategic Owner’s Engineering role, supporting Extended Power Uprate (EPU) efforts across a commercial nuclear fleet. Rather than performing hands-on technical design work, the selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing vendor engineering efforts, managing engineering contracts, and performing technical reviews on behalf of the plant owner.
This is a high-impact opportunity for engineers with deep commercial nuclear power experience, particularly those familiar with EPU projects, who are ready to lead engineering oversight, ensure regulatory and operational compliance, and drive successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities: Act as an Owner’s Engineer supporting upcoming Extended Power Uprate (EPU) projects across the nuclear fleet.
Oversee and manage external vendors and engineering contractors, ensuring alignment with plant owner objectives, technical requirements, and regulatory expectations.
Perform Owner’s Acceptance Reviews of vendor-submitted engineering deliverables such as calculations, drawings, analyses, and modifications.
Coordinate cross-functional input and ensure integration of vendor deliverables with station engineering, operations, and project management teams.
Evaluate vendor compliance with industry codes, standards, and QA requirements—ensuring work meets nuclear safety and licensing requirements.
Serve as the technical point of contact between the utility and third-party engineering providers throughout all project phases.
Participate in reviews and provide recommendations on engineering decisions, schedules, procurement plans, and system upgrades.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of engineering strategy and implementation of EPU scope.
Monitor engineering progress and recommend corrective actions when needed.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NRC regulations, power uprate guidelines, and nuclear industry best practices.
Provide periodic updates and technical briefings to project leadership.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
8–10+ years of experience in electrical design engineering, with demonstrated experience in commercial nuclear power plants.
Prior experience supporting Extended Power Uprates (EPU) is strongly preferred.
Proven expertise overseeing engineering vendors/contractors, conducting engineering review and oversight, and driving project execution from the Owner’s side.
Strong understanding of electrical power distribution systems, system protection, relaying, and equipment life-cycle management within nuclear facilities.
Deep knowledge of applicable nuclear codes, standards, and engineering change control processes.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience interfacing with multiple departments and external firms.
