Troubleshoot issues with electrical assets utilized by the refinery, including Motors (Induction and Synchronous), Resistive Heaters, Motorized Valve Actuators, Heat Trace, Low and Medium Voltage Switchgear, Low and Medium Voltage Motor Controls, Variable Frequency Drives, Microprocessor-based protection relays, Electronic Communication and Control Devices, Uninterruptable Power Systems, Batteries, Battery Chargers, High-Resistance Grounding Systems, Power Transformers, etc. Perform electrical system modeling for load flow and arc flash analyses. Develop electrical system switching procedures. Develop work scopes for electrical asset issues. Perform Root Cause Failure Analyses. Develop Failure-Mode and Causal Analyses. Develop recommendations for modifications to asset strategies, including asset continuous monitoring. Perform economic analyses on work scope and project scope recommendations. Perform equipment sizing analyses that conform to engineering best practices and National Electrical Code requirements. Create, modify, and interpret electrical and process drawings, including Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, Process Flow Diagrams, One-Line Diagrams, Three-Line Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Loop Sheets, Heat Trace Isos, Metering and Relaying Diagrams, Hazardous Area Classification Drawings, etc. Develop equipment Requests for Proposal. Review proposed Original Equipment Manufacturer and Engineering documents, check against internal standards, and provide feedback on proposal gaps. Manage changes per the site's Management of Change process and procedures. Interpret equipment testing results and provide scopes for issue remediation, including Breaker Testing, Cable Testing, Transformer Oil Analyses, Thermography, etc. Perform reliability analyses. Minimum Requirements:
Must have a Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience as an electrical engineer.
Of the required experience, must also have 5 years of experience in each of the following:
Diagnosing failures and anomalies associated with industrial Low-Voltage and Medium-Voltage electrical distribution equipment including Microprocessor-based protection relays, Electro-mechanical protection relays, Vacuum Bottles, Limit Switches, Current Transformers, Potential Transformers, and Station Batteries;
Specification for engineering and procurement of electrical devices including any combination of Motors, Resistive Heaters, Motorized Valve Actuators, Heat Trace, Low and Medium Voltage Switchgear, Low and Medium Voltage Motor Controls, Variable Frequency Drives, Microprocessor-based protection relays, Electronic Communication and Control Devices, Uninterruptable Power Systems, Batteries, Battery Chargers, High-Resistance Grounding Systems, or Power Transformers; and
Using red-lined drawings, equipment specifications, and procedures to implement and communicate the defined work scope.
Of the required experience, must also have 4 years of experience in each of the following:
Diagnosing failures and anomalies associated with industrial motor controls including single-speed and two-speed starters, Circuit Breakers, Overloads, Timing Relays, and Microprocessor-based Protection Relays;
Of the required experience, must also have 1 year of experience in all the following:
System load flow analysis and Arc flash analysis in SKM;
Root cause analysis using Cause Mapping techniques;
Configuration of protection relays including SEL 710-5, SEL 751, or General Electric x69;
Electrical distribution design;
Enterprise Asset Management or Computerized Maintenance Management Software; and
Electrical drawing creation or modification.
Telecommuting permitted up to 1 day per week.
International, domestic, and regional travel required up to 15%.
