The Boeing Electromagnetic Effects Group is seeking a broad range of experience levels, including Associate, Experienced and Senior level Electromagnetic Effects Test, Analysis and Design Engineers. This position will be 100% onsite in Everett or Tukwila WA. This position requires the candidate to work out of the Puget Sound region of Washington state to work on a multitude of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Commercial Derivative airplane programs such as US E-7A or the KC-46A Tanker, among others. The engineer will develop and validate Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) requirements and architectures to integrate complex systems and components into higher level systems and platforms. The engineer will also define and conduct critical tests to validate performance of designs to requirements. The engineer will also provide EMI/EMC expertise to design and modification efforts of products being developed throughout Boeing. E3 includes the following environments: Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Lightning, High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF), Precipitation Static, Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), among others. Primary job responsibilities will include: Perform complicated trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design for E3 performance Work (under minimal direction) to achieve Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of electronics, wiring and structure Interface with manufacturing for complex E3 aspects of the designs, coordinate with suppliers to assure compatibility at the system level. Report achievements and issues to program management and customers Review supplier test plans and test reports for correctness and communicate deficiencies for correction. Support project management by coordinating development of work statement, budget, schedule and other required inputs and conducting appropriate reviews Work with other engineering disciplines and suppliers to evaluate changes to existing equipment and determine the impact to electromagnetic characteristics and recommend actions to the program and other engineering teams. Other job responsibilities may include: Develop and implement Test Automation for aircraft modifications Apply EMI engineering technology experience to document and solve complex problems Perform trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analyses to predict component, interconnects, and system performance and to optimize design Apply conversion, correction, and antenna factors to EMI/EMC analyses and test Work on a cross-functional support team and communicate clearly in various review boards both internally & externally Process engineering data into meaningful tables and graphs for inclusion into reports. Support or conduct aircraft tests of Electromagnetic Effects. This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science 2 or more years’ related work experience Must be familiar with the Electromagnetic concepts (such as RF isolation, shielding, grounding, and filtering) Must be willing to travel up to 5% of the time as required Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 5 or more years’ related work experience Experienced Level) 7 or more years’ related work experience (Senior Level) An ABET accredited Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a Master’s/PhD in electrical engineering is preferred Active U.S. Security Clearance Familiarity in the defense or aerospace industry Previous experience of MIL-STD-461/464 and/or DO-160 EMI/EMC Prior experience with Aerospace Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Experience with EMI qualification testing for aircraft LRU’s, including reviewing procedures and test reports Familiar with aircraft-level E3 requirements and test methods within MIL-STD-464 Familiar with electrical bonding best practices in support of E3 compliance Foundation in RF systems and/or computational E3 analytical software tools Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Summary Pay Range: Associate: $85,850 - 116,150 Mid-Level: $104,550 - 141,450 Senior: $126,650 - 171,350
