Summary
The successful candidate will possess critical and creative thinking that will help advance SRP'S corporate strategy of being Leaner, Greener and More Customer Centric through the delivery of unique and timely strategic insights into one of the most highly visible systems in SRP - the Energy Management System (EMS).
The EMS is the system that allows power dispatchers to have monitoring and control of SRP'S generation, transmission, and distribution systems as well as exchange reliability information with other utilities in the Western Interconnection.
Duties will include periodic call-out support, EMS maintenance to reflect growth of systems, ICCP administration, building program interfaces, creating complex algorithms and maintenance scripts, and interfacing with customers.
Position prefers, but does not require, knowledge and experience supporting an EMS, SCADA (in the scope of an EMS), control algorithms, and electrical network modeling. Understanding of power operations and telemetry technology is of benefit. Experience with AspenTech OSI Monarch system is preferred but not required. Familiarity with Unix/Linux systems is desired.
What You'll Do
- Identify trends and root causes of issues, determine solutions, and make recommendations for management consideration. - Coordinate work with other departments - Act as a primary liaison to client organizations for specific projects - Administer and review work performed by consultants and technicians - Occasional contact with vendors of software, equipment, or services - Occasional travel to industry functions and other SRP facilities - Ability to work effectively using the services of various organizational groups within SRP - Depending on assignment, frequent requirement to work with confidential information - Understand and follow the software development life cycle (SDLC) - Participation in 24/7 call-out rotation - MS SQL Server - C or C++ Programming - C# Programming - XML - Windows and Linux scripting - Perl - Python (not required) - Strong programming documentation skills
Experience
Five (5) years full time experience actively engaged in engineering practice. Must have demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work of the nature defined for the job of Senior Engineer.
Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years of experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three years of experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.
Education
A bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution is required and a master's degree in the area of specialty is preferred.
Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
