MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four years of experience performing below-related duties. Six years is preferred.
  • Graduation from college with a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • GIS training and experience recommended.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education is acceptable.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES

  • Creates quick estimates for all municipal area subdivisions, roadway improvement projects, commercial projects, and industrial subdivisions.
  • Designs power layouts in AutoCAD and Bluebeam software for all new developments submitted.
  • Attends joint Utility Committee meetings to discuss designs, issues, and power-related projects.
  • Attends pre-app & pre-construction Meetings for projects that are being proposed.
  • Prepares and corrects AutoCAD files from civil engineering files for use in mapping software.
  • Prepares final estimates for developments based on approved construction drawings.
  • Designs and stakes Dixie Power infrastructure projects as needed.
  • Size transformers for commercial, industrial, and apartment building services. Coordinates ordering with purchasing and warehousing.
  • Reviews easements for all development projects to verify accessibility to each installed power line up to the transformer. Works with the GIS department to determine the easement needs for projects as required.
  • Helps review overhead transmission line designs for placement within the public road right of way under the direction of the transmission design staff.
  • Meets with the substation design team to facilitate feeder routes within areas served by a new substation.
  • Coordinates with engineers, developers, and owners regarding their projects.
  • Meets with members on-site or in the office regarding their projects.
  • Surveying of projects as required.
  • Performs various full performance level duties related to mapping and database management necessary to develop, implement, maintain, and operate the GIS area.
  • Attends training to stay proficient with engineering and surveying techniques.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT


  • The position is in an office but also requires field work in an electrical environment. It is regularly exposed to inclement weather conditions and the risk of electrical hazards from Littlefield, AZ, to Fillmore, UT.
