Job Summary: The Manufacturing Engineers primary responsibility will be to develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. The Manufacturing Engineer will recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls. The engineer will be expected to seek continuous improvement in their skills and knowledge as well as the products and processes for which they are responsible; work in a team environment as dictated by need; openly communicate with inter and intra departmental entities and fellow employees; assume a leadership role as opportunity presents itself and become a driving force in pursuit of strategic goals; work with Product Launch Manager, Sales & Marketing Manager and Production Manager; and have delegated responsibility for the successful introduction of new product/ processes. Much of their involvement in projects, processes and product will require hands-on participation and interface. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment. Prepares and maintains detailed prints of revisions for parts and products for each Customer. Designs, develops, tests or sources and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods. Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and efficiency improvement. Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams. Must be able to work extended hours when required. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of Lean principles and apply lean tools preferred. 3+ years prior Fabrication experience is a must. Must be able to plan set objectives to ensure follow though Tasks require use of small hand tools and measurement devices 30-60% of the time. Tasks require reading of documents and blueprints Working knowledge of tooling and equipment Tasks require visual inspections to access work place safety and reading of measurement tools and instruments. Tasks require good communication skills. Tasks require tactile and visual inspection of goods and processes. Tasks require flexibility and adaptability at a rapid pace. Computer skills are required.
