Job Description

We are seeking an Experienced Commercial Project Engineer with minimum of 3 years experience and a strong background in managing interior and finish scopes, including doors and hardware, flooring, casework, and millwork. This role is for a fast-moving commercial project currently under construction, and we need a team-oriented professional who is ready to hit the ground running. The ideal candidate brings both technical expertise and a hands-on attitude, with the ability to support the project team through critical finish phases.This position is responsible for helping to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and codes as well as managing the close-out process and assisting with other various tasks.Asuccessful candidate will have excellent communication and conflict resolution skills as well as a clear understanding of drawings and subcontract terminology.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Review and understand all drawings and specifications.
  • Expedite, review,and submit shop drawings and submittals for owner review.
  • Ensure document coordination betweendisciplines.
  • Supply required submittal information such as field dimensions.
  • Ensure all materials and equipment are released for fabrication with an adequate lead time to accommodate the required jobsite delivery date.
  • Manage on-site inventory of deliveries.
  • Understand the project scheduleand how assigned scope impacts critical path.
  • Discover and resolve interface conflicts between the company and trade partners, as well as among trade partners.
  • Interface with Procore software for owner and trade partner communication.
  • Ensure drawings are updated per as-built conditions and link Procore RFI responses to appropriate drawings.
  • Open change events in Procore for trade partners cost impacts associated with RFIs and solicit trade partner RFQs.
  • Understand all the subcontract terms, conditions, and specific scopes.
  • Understand subcontractor contract inclusions and exclusions.
  • Distribute RFI responses to subcontractors as appropriate ensuring an understanding of the official response.
  • Identify and submit follow-up RFIs as appropriate.
  • Set up and manage close-out process(commissioning, operations manuals, final walk throughs, etc.)
  • Prepare and distribute meeting minutes as directed by Project Manager.
  • Work collaboratively and maintain clear, written and oral communication with trade partners.
  • Work in conjunction with the Superintendentand owner/inspectorsto ensure all work is installed per the contract documents.
  • Focus on learning the construction methods and terminology from the experienced people with whom you are working.
  • Aim to become the subject matter expert on all scope assigned.
  • Work within project budget constraints; understand what is/is not included in the budget.
  • Alert Project Manager immediately of new cost impacts to determine in scope, out of scope, and who initiated the change.
  • Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with tasks as requested (possibly buyout, billings, cost control, QC, and/or change proposal pricing).
  • Maintain a minimum of 40 billable hours per week.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • This is a fully onsite position

Hiring Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management or Civil Engineering preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial construction, with hands-on involvement in finish trades highly preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Bluebeam, Procore, and Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with field staff, architects, engineers, and owners.
  • Valid Drivers License and dependable transportation.

  • Able to stand and walk for a 10-12-hour day

  • Able to climb permanent and temporary stairs
  • Able to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction


Additional Training/Certification

The following certifications are required for this position. If an employee does not have the certifications, they will be required to obtain them within 6 months of the date of hire or transfer into the position.

  • CCI Annual General Construction Safety Training
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • OSHA 10 Certification


Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time position, requiring occasional evening and weekend work. The annual salary for this position is $80,000 $130,000 DOE. Clark Construction is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Insurance: Employees are eligible for medical, dental and vision insurance on their rst day of work. We offer two options for health care insurance and pay 100% of the employees monthly premium for either option. Health care insurance is available for spouses and dependent(s); however, the employee is responsible for 50% of the premium for his/her spouse and dependent(s). Additional supplemental insurance benefits including Hospital Indemnity, Accident, Critical Illness, Life and AD&D Insurance may be purchased through CCIs policy with The Hartford at your own expense.


401K: CCI has a 401K program to assist employees in saving for retirement. Employees are eligible to designate how much they would like to contribute to their 401K account starting their rst day of work. CCI offers a 401k match program, matching up to 4% of the employee's annual pay.


Bonuses: Bonuses, such as performance or project-based bonuses, may be distributed throughout the year.


Cell Stipend: You are eligible to receive a $500/year cell phone stipend, paid quarterly at the end of each quarter. You must be employed during the entire quarter to be eligible for that period.
