Direct message the job poster from Constellation Systems Inc Constellation is hiring a Founding Systems Integration Engineer to own the messy but critical layer between real-world sensors and usable, trustworthy data in the cloud. You'll work across embedded interfaces, real-time streaming, and infrastructure to make neural devices, wearables, cameras, and other sensors synchronize and deliver clean data for downstream modeling. We’re looking for someone who can debug flaky hardware, design fault-tolerant data pipelines, and think end-to-end about how we turn real-world messiness into clean training data. You’ll also lead development of internal tools for sensor health checks, stream QA, and semi-automated annotation. You’ll work closely with neuroscientists and ML engineers, but you’re the one who owns the pipe. This role is ideal for someone who’s worked across embedded, backend, and time-series domains and wants to build something ambitious and unusual from the ground up. What You’ll Own Sensor Integration + Sync Interface with commercial and research sensors via USB, serial, BLE, SDKs Write shims, wrappers, or glue code to get data out of oddball devices Implement reliable timestampting tools like LabStreamingLayer (LSL), Redis, or ZeroMQ for sub-ms synchronization across systems Handle clock drift, jitter, dropped packets, and non-standard APIs Data Ingestion + Infrastructure Design real-time pipelines for high-throughput sensor data (EEG, video, audio, biometrics, etc.) Ensure robust data buffering, logging, and failure recovery in live environments Build ingestion into cloud storage with scalable, replayable formats Develop tools for inspecting data quality and identifying sync or hardware issues Internal Tools + Monitoring Create dashboards and utilities for stream health, device status, and sync QA Build APIs or lightweight interfaces for accessing aligned sensor data Contribute to semi-automated annotation tooling or behavioral tagging workflows Ops + Deployment Work closely with neuroscientists and behavioral scientists to spec and test hardware Occasionally assist with setup, deployment, and debugging in our instrumented spaces Must-Haves 5+ years working across embedded systems, backend data engineering, or time-series ingestion Deep understanding of timestamping, clock drift, and multimodal sync Strong Python skills, but pragmatic about using other tools where needed Familiarity with LSL, Redis, Kafka, or other IPC/streaming frameworks Experience handling USB, BLE, serial devices, flaky APIs, and weird hardware Comfort with cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS, GCP) and modern develops tools Ability to debug in messy, real-world conditions and ship resilient systems A systems-thinking mindset:you like making the whole stack work Bonus Experiences Prior work with EEG, fNIRS, biosensors, other neural, biometric, or physiological data Experience building tools for QA, annotation, or compliance monitoring Familiarity with time-series databases or data lakes Interest in mental health, brain-computer interfaces, or human-AI modeling Why Join Now? Own and architect the core technical pipeline at the heart of a radically new kind of neurotech and AI (neuroAI) company Work closely with a world-class science team Build infrastructure that could reshape mental health, human understanding, and aligned AI systems Help define engineering culture, standards, and scale-up strategy from day zero This is not a training role. To be considered, you must meet one of the following criteria : Completed an undergraduate degree and have at least 4 years of full-time work experience , OR Completed a postgraduate degree (Master’s or PhD) and have at least 3 years of full-time work experience We are not considering applicants who are currently in school or who do not meet the minimum experience thresholds. ** Referral ** If you were referred to this role, make sure your referrer sends me a message with your name!
