- Set up, operate and maintain video equipment, LED displays and systems for live and taped productions.
- Program and operate media servers and playback systems.
- Maintain knowledge of current video standards, equipment and practices.
- Diagnose, log and repair damaged items.
- Manage firmware and software updates to keep operating systems current.
- Interface with clients, producers and content creators.
- Collaborate with production technical staff and other departments within the organization with respect to technical systems.
- Ensure that all equipment is used safely and in accordance with industry standards. Maintain a safe and secure environment for artists, clients, employees, and others, ensuring that all applicable codes, laws, regulations, and emergency procedures are followed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Production or technical degree preferred but not required
Experience
- 5+ years directly related experience required
- Experience as a touring video engineer, a broadcast facility system engineer or other performance environment experience required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve in a time-sensitive production environment
- Proficient with media servers and playback systems; disguise server experience preferred
- Experience with nonlinear editing systems, Adobe Creative Cloud and Vectorworks preferred
- Strong knowledge of video standards, protocols and systems required
- Experience building, troubleshooting and maintaining high-resolution LED video displays required
Licenses / Certifications
- OSHA Forklift & Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) certification required upon hire
- Must complete OSHA 10-Hour General Industry certification within 120 days of hire
Physical Requirements
Speak and hear to communicate effectively and use both near and distant vision. Frequently stand and walk, and occasionally climb and descend stairs and uneven terrain. May be required to work at heights of 50-100 feet (catwalks, man lifts, etc.). Often sit, kneel, bend, and reach to move and observe equipment. Regularly lift and carry up to and exceeding 50 lbs. Continual use of manual dexterity and precise hand coordination for tasks such as using a computer and equipment installation.
Working Conditions
Normal office conditions, often in close contact with others. Live music and event environments with variable weather conditions, large crowds, and elevated noise levels.
This position requires a pre-employment drug screening (4-panel: phencyclidine, cocaine, amphetamines, and opiates).
