Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and testing of new access control hardware products, including controllers, readers, and other IoT devices.
- Architect and design complex multi-layer PCBs, ensuring signal integrity, power integrity, and manufacturability.
- Select and evaluate components, including microcontrollers, power management ICs, communication interfaces (e.g., Ethernet, Wi-Fi, BLE), and security elements.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for hardware validation and performance verification (DVT, EMI/EMC, environmental testing).
- Collaborate closely with firmware, software, mechanical, and product management teams to define product requirements and ensure seamless integration.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of hardware engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware issues throughout the product lifecycle.
- Manage relationships with external partners, including contract manufacturers and component suppliers.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in access control, embedded systems, and IoT.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our hardware development processes and methodologies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in hardware development, with a focus on embedded systems and low-power electronics.
- Proven experience in a leadership or senior role, with a track record of mentoring and guiding other engineers.
- Expertise in schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, KiCad).
- Strong knowledge of microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex-M), their peripherals, and associated embedded systems design.
- Experience with a variety of communication protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, RS-485, Wiegand).
- Solid understanding of power supply design, including buck/boost converters and LDOs.
- Experience with RF and wireless technologies (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, RFID).
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the physical security or access control industry.
- Familiarity with security protocols and cryptographic hardware.
- Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM), design for test (DFT), and cost optimization.
- Knowledge of embedded firmware development in C/C++.
- Experience with product development in an Agile environment.
