Purpose of the position:
The lead engineer brings a strong background in mechanical engineering, with specific experience in designing, testing, and implementing OEM product improvement projects. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our products meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and safety.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Develop innovative mechanical and hydraulic systems for OEM equipment, including detailed design, modeling, and structural analysis
- Project Execution: Lead and manage projects from concept through production, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and quality standards
- Testing and Validation: Conduct testing and validation of designs, utilizing both simulation software and physical prototypes to ensure product performance and durability
- Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers, manufacturing teams, QC, supply chain, and other internal stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems into overall product designs
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including specifications, drawings, and reports
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process and product improvements, and implement changes to enhance efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness. Maintain a pipeline of current and future Improvement projects
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and expertise to external & internal customers, and field service teams, addressing and resolving any issues related to mechanical and hydraulic systems

What you'll need to succeed:
Education:
- Minimum B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering (M.Sc preferred)
Working experience:
- 10+ years of experience from a relevant field in OEM product design
- Design knowledge of mobile, load handling equipment and/or Heavy Equipment or Automotive OEM environments
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies
- Familiarity with transportation industry standards (FMVSS) and industry standards related to mechanical and hydraulic systems
Skills and competencies:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks - preferred, Autodesk, or equiv), FEA analysis (Ansys a plus), and hydraulic system design
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, structural design & analysis, materials science, engineering standards, and manufacturing processes
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and to innovate component & system level designs

- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently manage projects
- Work Ethic: A self starter, capable of identifying product improvement initiatives and working both independently and collaboratively as needed to champion projects from conception through implementation
