Overview GovCIO is seeking a highly skilled Lead Network Security Engineer to join our team supporting the US Courts. This is a dynamic role where you will enhance security infrastructure in a remote setting. Responsibilities Design, implement, and manage next-generation firewall and web security proxy solutions, ensuring secure and reliable network operations across multiple data centers and field locations. Utilize Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewall solutions to develop and maintain effective security policies, NAT, VPNs, threat prevention, URL filtering, and decryption functionalities. Engine and maintain Cisco routing and switching infrastructure in both LAN and WAN environments to enhance network performance. Create and sustain secure network architectures that include firewalls, web proxies, VPNs, and access control technologies. Deploy, configure, and support McAfee Web Security Proxy (Web Gateway) to enforce essential web filtering and malware protection measures. Integrate firewall and proxy solutions with various authentication systems, including Active Directory, LDAP, RADIUS, and TACACS+. Proactively monitor security platforms to identify threats, performance issues, and policy violations. Analyze logs and alerts to detect security incidents and implement effective mitigation strategies. Conduct configuration reviews, optimize rulebases, and ensure security hardening across systems. Qualifications Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of network engineering experience or equivalent expertise. A minimum of 5 years in IT or network security roles. At least 3 years of hands-on experience with firewalls and security platforms, routers, and switches. Strong proficiency with: Palo Alto Networks firewalls Cisco routers and switches McAfee Web Security Proxy / Web Gateway In-depth understanding of: TCP/IP, routing, and switching IPsec and SSL VPNs DNS, DHCP, NTP ACLs, NAT, QoS Experience with access control technologies such as RADIUS, TACACS+, Active Directory, and LDAP.
