Lead Security Engineer / SF or NYC

A pioneering AI company in healthcare is looking for a Lead Security Engineer to join their product and platform teams. This position is based in San Francisco or NYC and plays a vital role in safeguarding highly sensitive data through secure application development and strategic risk mitigation.
You'll be the go-to expert for security in a product-focused organization, you'll embed security best practices into every stage of the development lifecycle-from architecture to production. You'll work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and ML teams, ensuring the company's systems remain secure, scalable, and compliant as they grow.
Required Skills & Experience:
5+ years of experience in application or product security engineering Deep knowledge of secure development standards and secure coding practices Experience conducting threat modeling, risk assessments, and code reviews Familiarity with automated tooling such as SAST, DAST, RASP, and SCA Hands-on experience triaging and remediating vulnerabilities in modern SaaS stacks Proficient in Python and/or TypeScript Desired Skills & Experience: Experience integrating security into CI/CD pipelines Background in healthcare IT and compliance frameworks like HIPAA A passion for mentorship and developer education What You Will Be Doing:
