Machine Learning Research Engineer (Computer Vision) - SIML, ISE Seattle, Washington, United States | Machine Learning and AI Description Multi-modal human sensing is a foundational capability that powers intelligent experiences based on key human traits such as identity, expression, clothing, action, gesture, gaze, and human-object interaction. As a Machine Learning Research Engineer on the SIML team, you will be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge AI/ML models for human sensing, focusing on building robust cross-domain identity recognition systems. Major Apple Intelligence experiences such as personalized Natural Language Search, Memories Creation, and personalized Image Generation are powered by our ability to learn robust representations of visual human traits. Efficient real-time visual human sensing supports marquee Photography experiences like Cinematic Mode and Photographic Styles, as well as communication features like Center Stage. This work enables more natural human-device interactions, for example, with the DockKit framework. Responsibilities Design, implement, and deploy state-of-the-art visual recognition systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather product requirements and translate them into ML research and development plans. Communicate results and insights effectively to partners and senior leadership, providing clear recommendations. Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in machine learning, multi-modal foundation models, computer vision, and natural language understanding. Contribute to the ML community within the company by sharing research, improving infrastructure, and mentoring colleagues. Minimum Qualifications Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience. Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, or similar deep learning frameworks. Proven ability to design and implement solutions using modern ML architectures. Preferred Qualifications Experience with C++ and Swift programming. Research background demonstrated through publications, patents, or impactful software development. Compensation and Benefits Base salary ranges from $139,500 to $258,100, depending on skills and experience.
