Job Description
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting plant equipment and machinery used in the processing of chemical substances. This includes conveyors, compressors, pumps, extruders, and hydraulic presses, all while adhering to safety standards at all times.
Responsibilities
- Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot plant equipment and machinery.
- Clean and maintain plant maintenance areas and equipment.
- Perform work order repairs, inspections, and adjustments.
- Attend and participate in plant, shift, safety, and quality meetings.
- Receive and complete daily work assignments, documentation, and checklists.
- Lead and assist in the fabrication, modification, and implementation of new and existing equipment.
- Review machinery and equipment specifications and formulations for proper usage.
- Coordinate the maintenance and daily operation of all physical working elements of the facility.
- Coordinate the quality review of equipment operation and production outcomes.
- Coordinate and participate in the seasonal preparation of appropriate equipment and systems.
- Obtain and use the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in and complete other projects and tasks as assigned.
- Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical equipment and PLC's.
- Ability to function independently in a team environment.
- Knowledge of hazardous waste materials and appropriate handling and disposal.
- Basic welding, plumbing, electrical, and construction experience.
- PLC circuitry, equipment, processes, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair machinery.
- Knowledge of basic manufacturing safety and OSHA guidelines.
- Previous experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of polymer or rubber manufacturing specifications and raw materials.
- Current forklift license or certification.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated decision-making and project management capabilities.
Technicians are sent to schooling for certifications in welding, automation controls, electrical, or similar trades, which opens opportunities for raises. All specialty tools are provided, and candidates are expected to have their own set of basic tools. The current average tenure of the maintenance team is around 25 years, indicating a strong culture of employee satisfaction and retention. Work Environment
Chemical manufacturing facility. Work hours are 1st shift: 6:00am-2:30pm Monday - Friday, with Saturdays as needed. Preference for candidates open to 2nd or 3rd shift. Safety is a top priority.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of CHARDON, Ohio.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
